Clarity Peak College – Admission Policy
1. Purpose
The purpose of this Admission Policy for Clarity Peak College is to establish a transparent, fair, and academically rigorous framework for selecting students into all academic programmes at Clarity Peak College. The policy ensures that incoming students possess the foundational knowledge, aptitude, and skills required to succeed in practice-oriented, competency-based higher education.
This policy also defines differentiated admission routes for Associate Degree programmes and Certificate programmes, reflecting their distinct academic depth, duration, and entry requirements.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all applicants seeking admission into:
Associate Degree Programmes
Associate Degree in Computer Science
Associate Degree in Civil Engineering
Associate Degree in Economics
Associate Degree in Financial Accounting
Associate Degree in Journalism, Media and Mass Communication
Any future undergraduate programmes offered by the College
Certificate Programmes
All Certificate programmes offered by Clarity Peak College, including but not limited to:
Information Technology and Computing certificates
Engineering and Construction certificates
Business, Accounting and Finance certificates
Media, Communication and Journalism certificates
Social Sciences and Development certificates
3. Eligibility Requirements
3.1 Associate Degree Programmes
Applicants must possess one of the following:
A High School Diploma, Secondary School Certificate, or equivalent recognised qualification
Completion of a recognised pre-university foundation programme in relevant subject areas
3.2 Certificate Programmes
Applicants must possess one of the following:
South Sudan Certificate of Secondary Education (SSCSE) or equivalent
Certificate, diploma, or higher qualification in any discipline from a recognised institution
Relevant work experience in a related field may be considered
Basic literacy and numeracy skills are required
Basic computer literacy is recommended for technology-related certificates
Certificate programmes are designed to be accessible; however, applicants must demonstrate readiness for applied, competency-based learning.
4. Core Knowledge Areas (Associate Degree Applicants Only)
All Associate Degree applicants must demonstrate competency in:
Mathematics (algebra, arithmetic, and foundational quantitative reasoning; calculus foundations where applicable)
Science (physics, chemistry, or applied sciences depending on the programme)
English Language (reading comprehension, academic writing, and professional communication)
Certificates submitted by applicants are considered during screening but do not exempt candidates from College entrance testing.
5. Admission Testing
5.1 Clarity Peak College Entrance Examination (CPCEE) – Associate Degrees
All Associate Degree applicants must sit the CPCEE, comprising:
Mathematics Assessment – quantitative reasoning and problem-solving
Science Assessment – programme-specific knowledge
English Assessment – grammar, comprehension, and academic communication
5.2 Test Format
Duration: 2–3 hours
Format: Multiple-choice questions, short-answer questions, and structured problem-solving tasks
Passing threshold: Minimum 60% overall and at least 50% in each component
5.3 Certificate Entry Assessment (Where Applicable)
For selected competitive Certificate programmes, the College may administer a simplified diagnostic assessment focusing on:
Basic numeracy
English comprehension
Fundamental digital literacy (for ICT-related programmes)
However, most Professional Certificate admissions are based primarily on eligibility review rather than competitive examination.
6. Precedence of Assessment
For Associate Degree programmes, performance in the CPCEE takes precedence over prior academic records. Applicants who meet documentary requirements but fail the entrance examination shall not be admitted, regardless of prior qualifications.
For Certificates, admission is primarily determined by eligibility and capacity; however, the College reserves the right to apply screening assessments where necessary.
7. Application Process
Applicants must:
Complete the official College Application Form (online or paper-based)
Submit certified copies of academic certificates and transcripts
Pay the non-refundable application fee of 50,000 SSP
Receive admission screening or CPCEE schedule (where applicable)
Attend entrance assessment (Associate Degrees only or selected certificates)
Await admission decision based on assessment and programme requirements
8. Selection Criteria
Admission decisions shall be based on:
Associate Degrees
CPCEE performance (decisive factor)
Optional interview (where required for specific programmes)
Academic readiness and alignment with programme demands
Certificates
Eligibility criteria
Relevance of prior education or work experience
Motivation and suitability for applied training
Programme capacity (where applicable)
Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission where places are limited.
9. Special Considerations
9.1 Mature Applicants
Applicants aged 25 years and above without formal academic qualifications may apply under the mature entry scheme. Such applicants may be required to undergo a diagnostic assessment.
9.2 International Applicants
International applicants must submit recognised equivalency certification and may be required to complete entrance assessments depending on programme level.
9.3 Transfer Students
Students transferring from other institutions may be granted credit transfer of up to 50%, subject to academic review and competency verification.
10. Admission Continuity, Cancellation, and Attendance Policy
10.1 Cancellation Due to Non-Payment of Fees
Admission may be cancelled if a student fails to pay required tuition and administrative fees within the specified registration period. This may result in:
Suspension of registration privileges
Removal from class lists
Cancellation of admission for the semester
Reinstatement requires approval from the Office of Admissions and Finance and may involve additional fees.
10.2 Cancellation Due to Non-Attendance
Students who fail to attend classes for an entire semester without formal notification or approval shall have their enrolment cancelled. Such cases are treated as voluntary withdrawal.
Re-admission will require:
A new application
Payment of applicable fees
Compliance with current admission requirements
10.3 Approved Deferment
Students unable to continue studies due to medical, financial, or personal reasons may apply for deferment. Approved deferment:
Preserves admission status for a defined period
Requires written application and supporting documentation
Requires reactivation upon return
10.4 Failure of Entrance Examination
Applicants who fail the CPCEE shall not be admitted into Associate Degree programmes. However:
They may reapply in future admission cycles
They may retake the examination under College regulations
They may be advised to enrol in Professional Certificate or bridging programmes
Failure does not constitute permanent exclusion.
11. Admission Cycles and Academic Calendar
The College operates two annual admission cycles:
First Cycle
Applications: November – January
Registration: January
Semester: February – June
Second Cycle
Applications: May – July
Registration: July
Semester: August – December
Applicants are encouraged to apply early to allow for verification and assessment processing.
The College reserves the right to adjust dates where necessary and will communicate changes through official channels.
